The
factors below are amongst the most important to be considered
but not necessarily limited to these:-
WHEN
PLANNING A BOWLING CENTRE
What is the size of the property?
Have the location and zoning restrictions been checked?
How much capital is available for this project?
Does the planned location have good business potential?
Is the building a new one (built especially for a bowling centre)
or an existing one to be converted
into a bowling centre?
What are the operating requirements and local ordinance in regards
to parking?
Ramps for the handicapped.
MINIMUM
MEASUREMENTS FOR THE BASIC INSTALLATION
The
length of the installation can be determined by the use of the
following dimensions. All are minimum measurements:-
A minimum
of 1.17 metres (3' - 10") clear passage behind the pinspotters.
This area will also
largely depend on the location
of the workshop. (
see
graphic)
25.35 metres
(83' - 2") overall length of the lanes and approach area
including automatic
pinspotters, plus an additional
3.66metres (12') for seating. (
see
graphic)
Specifications
may vary somewhat depending on choice of equipment.
WIDTH
OF BOWLING LANES
Listed below are the net measurements of the uninterrupted lane
widths only. The calculations must include columns, walls and
passages between or outside the lanes themselves.

request.
SIDE
AISLES
The
recommended side aisle giving access to the back of the pinspotters
is 1metre (3').
The minimum width is .75metres (2' - 29½"). If no aisle
is required then provide a minimum of .35metres (1') past the
gutter to the wall to give the bowlers some extra space for
their approach.
CEILING
HEIGHT
The ceiling height typically ranges from 3.05metres to 3.66metres
(10' to 12') above the approach and lane surface.
Accoustical tiles must be used over the lanes, seating and concourse
area.
AIRCONDITIONING
Airconditioning is a necessity. The primary airconditioned space
is from the foul line back
to the seating area and all ancillary areas. It must be designed
to maintain temperatures ranging from 20.6°C to 22.8°C
(69°F to 73°F). The average relative humidity should
be
40-50%
